Have a look at the Nature Garden and pond area
We are blessed with a fenced area at the back of Little Acorns, a safe enclosed space play area but there are lots of wasted green space around it.
Staff decided it would be the perfect place for a Nature Garden and Pond.
Practitioner Tasha drew up the plans for this project...….......
The area is safe as it will be on the outside of our play area, so the children can only access it with a member of staff. The children will be able to observe the pond and wildlife garden during outdoor play and can look for any wildlife whilst learning about the environment we live in; "Knowledge and Understanding of the World".
Children can go 1:1 with a member of staff to explore the wildlife garden closer. They will be able to watch birds bathing and feeding, see the various insects that live in the garden. We have a "Bug Hotel" and a "Hedge Hog House", hopefully get a few passing Hedgehogs!
In the pond we have a little water fountain, stones, pebbles, plants and now "Frog Spawn". The Little Acorns have loved to see the Frog Spawn and we are all looking forward to the Tadpoles and Frogs!!
A very big THANK YOU to Dillon and Connor for starting the digging of the pond, and moving all the heavy clay/soil to the front garden so we could have a bigger hill.
